Primavera Sound Barcelona reveals its stunning lineup for 2026 with The Cure, Doja Cat, The xx, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Addison Rae and My Bloody Valentine
Edited by Mihai Știrbu, Jurnalism cu S.
Mac DeMarco, Pinkpantheress, Skrillex, Peggy Gou, Lola Young, Father John Misty, Ethel Cain, Bad Gyal, Big Thief, Wet Leg, Little Simz, Slowdive, Kneecap, Alex G, Dijon and Blood Orange also head the list of 150 names revealed today.
A constellation of artists that represent the past,
present and future of music will come together at the 24th edition of the
festival.
Primavera Sound Barcelona will hold its main events
from 4th to 6th June 2026, but the opening day, the closing electronic music
party and a parallel programme yet to be revealed will extend it to a whole
week.
Tickets will be available from 29th September at 11:00
CEST through the Fan Sale, which is now open for registration on the Primavera
Sound website.
Residents of the Barcelona metropolitan area can
obtain their full festival ticket with a 10% discount by completing the
corresponding form.
A big surprise that conceals countless surprises
inside it. This is how the stunning lineup for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026
is presented, revealed earlier than ever before in the festival's history. It
comes earlier than usual... but also perfectly on time: after all, the unique
personality of Primavera Sound always sets its own schedule. And now it does so
again with an intergenerational lineup, a kaleidoscopic list in terms of music
and gender parity, celebrating the unique nature of the festival. This and no
other is the lineup for the 24th edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona: 150
artists who could only come together here.
A unique DNA that is impossible to separate from
Barcelona, which is now much more than just the location of the festival. There
is no doubt that Primavera Sound is what it is because of the city that has
hosted it since 2001, although the influence is reciprocal after so many years
of symbiosis: in a way, Barcelona is also what it is because of the festival,
which helps to define it just like the characteristic panots on the pavements
do and as the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games still does. Because in the same
way as the Olympics are a showcase of sporting diversity witnessed by the whole
world, the festival will display its unmistakable mosaic of sound while the
entire music world looks towards Barcelona for yet another year.
All of this comes together in the poster design and
presentation video, created by Vampire Films with music by rusowsky and Ravyn
Lenae, which reveals the artists who are already inviting us to start imagining
what Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026 will be like.
ON YOUR MARKS... Leading the way is The Cure.
The
immortal band led by Robert Smith still holds the record for the longest
concert in the history of Primavera Sound, among countless other musical
milestones, although their relevance has been recalibrated in the present
thanks to their most recent album, Songs of a Lost World (2024), celebrated as
one of their best records. Every time this British band emerges from the
darkness to reconnect with their audience live, it is an event, but it is not
the only one that Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026 has in store for you.
This 24th edition will also feature the chameleon-like
Doja Cat, who will unleash her arsenal of hits, the long-awaited return of a
festival icon such as The xx after almost a decade of absence, the animated
adventures of Gorillaz with the tireless Damon Albarn at the helm with a brand
new album The Mountain, Massive Attack performing for the first time at
Primavera Sound to settle a historic debt, the absolute confirmation of pop
phenomenon Addison Rae, and the deafening reunion with shoegaze legends My Bloody
Valentine. Five decades of popular music, from distorted rock to hip-hop, from
pop to cutting-edge electronic music, condensed into these seven names that
underline the multifaceted identity of the festival.
These next eight months will give us time to
familiarise ourselves with this exciting lineup, although the truth is that it
already features some faces that are pleasantly familiar to the Primavera Sound
community. This is the case of Mac DeMarco, at the height of his compositional
maturity, the irresistible troubadour Father John Misty, Bad Gyal and her
collection of anthems in her only festival show in 2026, the perfect folk-rock
sound of Big Thief, British rapper Little Simz, the new slacker idol Alex G,
Slowdive in their exuberant second youth, the eternally transgressive
Einstürzende Neubauten and the unstoppable Wet Leg, who will be performing at
the festival for the second year running. In contrast, Lola Young will be
making her debut not only at Primavera Sound but also in Spain, confirming that
her talent goes far beyond the viral Messy. Joining these artists will be the
electronic maverick Skrillex, the supernova Peggy Gou, generational icon
Pinkpantheress, the preacher Ethel Cain, the multifaceted Blood Orange, and
Ireland's Kneecap, who are more than welcome at Primavera Sound and will return
on their own merits after their performance at last year's festival. All of
these are just the tip of the iceberg.
READY... Because of course there's more. So much more.
So much that it offers endless contrasts that are only imaginable at Primavera
Sound. The silky R&B of Ravyn Lenae and the Buenos Aires rock of Bestia
Bebé. The metalcore roar of Knocked Loose and the counter-current folk of
Annahstasia. MARINA's theatrical pop and Touché Amoré's healing post-hardcore.
The traditional Portuguese songs of fado singer Gisela João and the
hyperverbena of Lechuga Zafiro & Verraco. Melt-Banana's noise turbine and
caroline's miniature symphonies. The techno militancy of the Underground
Resistance collective and the new folklore of Guitarricadelafuente. JADE's
bubble-gum choruses and Merzbow's treasure trove of extreme sounds. The
contagious good vibes from Role Model and Beverly Glenn-Copeland and Elizabeth
Copeland’s avant-jazz oasis. The punk darts of Lambrini Girls and the ambient
postcards of Malibu. The electronic maximalism of Overmono and the soft-rock
charm of Men I Trust. Even such unusual proposals, at a major festival, as
those of veteran vocal experimenter Joan La Barbara, Iranian percussionist
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi and Scottish bagpiper Brìghde Chaimbeul find their
place at Primavera Sound.
All of this coexists naturally to form a line-up of
artists who look outwards but also, of course, inwards: while Amaarae will come
from Ghana, Six Sex from Argentina, ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U from Japan, Buscabulla
from Puerto Rico, Samaʼ Abdulhadi from Palestina, Guedra Guedra from Morocco,
HYPNOSIS THERAPY from South Korea, and Ninajirachi from Australia, Rojuu,
Depresión Sonora, Barry B, Renaldo & Clara and DISOBEY will project an
exciting snapshot of the homegrown musical ecosystem.
And although we are now talking in the future tense,
the Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026 lineup overlaps all possible timelines. A
happily resurrected past? The stage returns of Rilo Kiley and Texas is the
Reason. Pure present? Panda Bear, Water From Your Eyes, Smerz and Lucrecia Dalt
with some of the great albums of 2025 under their belts. A future that is
coming true ahead of time? Sound visionaries such as Dijon, Oklou, rusowsky,
2hollis, Ralphie Choo, fakemink and NEW YORK who are already showing us the way
to tomorrow. The fact that time is elastic at Primavera Sound will even allow
Cameron Winter to perform both solo and as the frontman of Geese.
GO! This lineup announcement officially kicks off the
race to Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026, which will hold its main days from 4th
to 6th June. And there will also be the opening day on Wednesday, the
electronic music party Primavera Bits (featuring Carl Cox, Joseph Capriati,
BLOND:ISH y Greta) on Sunday and a parallel programme yet to be revealed, which
will make the 24th edition a whole week of music. Although the symbolic Parc
del Fòrum site will be the epicentre of the activity, the Auditori Fòrum will
also be back as the stage for some of the most special performances after a
year's hiatus, Primavera Sound will once again echo all around the city of
Barcelona. In addition, Primavera Pro, the meeting point for Primavera Sound
industry professionals, will celebrate its 17th edition between 3rd and 7th
June with a programme of conferences and showcases to be announced soon.
Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026 is supported by Estrella Damm, Revolut and CUPRA as key strategic partners. Their support makes it possible to continue improving the festival, in which we believe so much, both musically and in everything that surrounds it. They are joined by the essential collaboration of Levi’s, Schwarzkopf, Jameson, Aperol, Vueling y azulmarino, and Fever as official point of sale. Thank you all very much for your trust in Primavera Sound.
